It's the start of the 4th week of my one-month Personal Smoothie Challenge! This weekend, I had the same smoothie both days, and it was really delicious!
1 cup apple cider
5 ounces frozen passionfruit pulp
6 ounces homemade plain yogurt
This morning's smoothie was a total improv piece; as I was making it, I was thinking, "this probably won't work." However, it's an interesting smoothie and I definitely think it's one I will continue to experiment with and try to perfect even more:
1 cup almond milk
1 cup apple cider
1 cup froze red raspberries
1 heaping tablespoon Navitas SuperFood Blend (Hemp, Cacao, and Maca powder)
Like others with blended raspberries, there are seeds in this smoothie; if that bothers you, be sure to press it through a sieve (a fine mesh strainer works well), and the smoothie will indeed live up to its name!
I love oranges and all things citrus. However, I have been using whatever I have around for my smoothies, and I haven't had any oranges around lately. However, there are all kinds of amazingly healthy and delicious orange items to put into your smoothies! Today's is a great vibrant-orange smoothie without any oranges!
1 cup carrot juice
1 cored apple
5 ounces frozen passionfruit pulp
6 ounces homemade plain yogurt
1 pinch of ground cinnamon
This is really delicious! Give it a try!
Today's smoothie is really tangy--but not in an unbearable way--in a delicious way!
1 cup apple cider
6 ounces plain homemade yogurt
1 heaping cup of frozen red raspberries
Because of the raspberry seeds (just like strawberries), there will be seeds at the bottom of this smoothie. You could strain it through a fine mesh strainer, if you like--I don't think it's necessary, but it will save you from getting a lot of seeds at the bottom!
I didn't post yesterday, but I did maintain my personal smoothie challenge! My smoothie today is a variation on yesterday's, so here are both versions--enjoy!
Yesterday's smoothie:
1 cup carrot juice
6 ounces of my own homemade organic plain yogurt (get a yogurt maker!)
1 apple, cored but not peeled (peel it if the skin will bother you in your smoothie)
1 pinch of ground cardamom
a few ice cubes (Here's where coconut water frozen into ice cubes is great!)
Today's smoothie:
1 cup carrot juice
6 ounces of my own homemade organic plain yogurt
1 apple, cored but not peeled
1 inch of fresh ginger
a few ice cubes
These are wonderfully refreshing! Let me know if you try either of these--I think cinnamon would be a great addition, too!
Today I really enjoyed a thick and yummy summer-tasting smoothie, even though it's very fall-like outside! Ah, the magic of frozen fruit and canned coconut milk! ;)
1 cup coconut milk
10 ounces frozen watermelon puree
4 fresh julep mint leaves from my garden
Blend and enjoy! This was so thick, it was almost like a sorbet!
The third week of my personal smoothie challenge begins today! I love the concoction I came up with today, too--give it a try and tell me what you think!
1 cup carrot juice
1 cup coconut milk
5 ounces frozen papaya puree
1 inch peeled fresh ginger
Blend and LOVE!
It's Saturday! (I love the weekend.) Today's smoothie was very subtle and delicious. Give it a try and enjoy!
1 cup plain yogurt
1 cup apple cider
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 banana
I'd also like to give a shout out to the Denton Juice Co! I really enjoyed my carrot, orange, and ginger juice that I got from them today at the Etsy Denton Handmade Harvest Craft Festival!
I'm very proud of myself for maintaining my personal smoothie challenge! Today's is another improv based on what I had in my fridge--and it is very yummy!
1 cup plain yogurt
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup apple cider
1 tablespoon ground flax seed
Blend and enjoy!
One of my favorite things to do while making smoothies is improv, based on what I have available in my kitchen. Today I came up with a recipe that I really LOVE! Give it a try and tell me what you think:
1 banana
1 cup plain yogurt
5 ounces frozen papaya puree
1 Asian pear (peeled and cored)
This is a very delicious and smooth concoction!
I've reached the 1/3 mark on my personal smoothie challenge, and so far, I'm loving it! Today's recipe is a variation on yet another great smoothie from the Martha Stewart Whole Living Smoothie ipad app:
1/2 cup organic Silken tofu
5 ounces frozen pomegranate puree
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup organic frozen blackberries
1 tablespoon local honey
This is another thick smoothie--because I used frozen pomegranate puree, instead of juice, I had to stop the blender a few times to stir the mixture. This is very delicious--I highly recommend this smoothie!
I'm still loving my personal smoothie-a-day challenge! Here's one that I made using a variety of things available in my fridge and freezer:
1 cup coconut milk
5 ounces frozen papaya puree
1 cup frozen dark sweet cherries
1 inch grated fresh ginger
This is super-thick and delicious! It's a very filling smoothie--a great meal!
